As the Web 2.0 world evolves more and more, social media technology outlets and applications are becoming more than just fun and games. The MBA Exchange team has located several tools that have direct application and benefit to applicants in the midst of the MBA admissions process, current business school students and working professionals seeking career counseling.

Intuitive and easy-to-use, these social media resources can help you stay informed and productive even while mobile. Below you’ll find just a few that we believe could be particularly useful:

1) Pocket MBA iPhone App. A free application available through the iTunes store, “Pocket MBA” is a condensed, wareseeker mobile version of a comprehensive MBA course book. Featuring full-length chapters on everything from “Business Essentials” to “Marketing” to “Information Technology” – complete with flashcards and tests that reinforce retention – this could be a valuable tool for a future MBA on-the-go.

2) aootusn kigiResumePro iPhone App. The ability to create custom resumes in real time when meeting a b-school alum, attending a job fair or even schmoozing at a cocktail party could be incredibly beneficial for those folks contemplating an MBA or career transition. We haven’t personally put the App to use, so we’re curious to hear your feedback if you‘ve found this to be a good resource.

3) evernote logoEvernote. “Remember Everything” says the tagline for Evernote, another free application with a strong mobile integration. It allows you to take snapshots and selected pieces of content from various websites, take photo notes, and keep track of pretty much everything going on during your MBA application or job search process. Think of it as a “virtual file folder.” A great tool to keep track of your consultant’s emails and tips as well as deadlines and business cards.

It’s important to keep in mind that, while such applications can help you stay organized and efficient while pursuing your academic and career goals, they cannot replace the customized, strategic approach to the MBA admissions or career planning that our professional consultants provide.

If you happen upon other such smartphone applications or online networks with an MBA admissions or career slant, please send them along or leave a comment with information on how to access them. The more we all know and share, the better!
