Why is sooner is better than later when pursuing business school admission?

In Part 1 of this blog series, we focused on: “Why some people wait to start their business school admissions campaign.” In this post, we’re going to examine the reasons why allowing yourself more time is better than less time.

The most important point to keep in mind that is that the MBA application process is about much more than just “writing an application.” Focusing on the underlying candidacy must come first. Optimizing your professional, academic and personal profile is essential – and can require time to explain, add or repair certain aspects.

Also, in most cases, applying in Round 1 is better than later rounds. Hitting the first deadline conveys a sense of confidence and urgency that adcoms like to see. Furthermore, there are no waitlisted applicants from prior rounds who could reduce your chances for success. As a Round 1 applicant, you’ll receive a decision sooner so you can start making plans accordingly. And finally, you never know what might come up during the next few months that could force you to apply in Round 2.

So, are you beginning to see why you should launch your admissions campaign now? Watch for Part 3 of this blog series: “How to start your business school admissions campaign… today.” And, just in case you missed it, please read Part 1: “Why some people wait to start their business school admissions campaign.”
