Pre-Application – Strategy & Planning
Course selection is strategy, not guesswork. We don’t just make sure you’re meeting graduation requirements—we ensure your transcript sends a signal. Every class you take (and don’t take) tells a story about your intellectual trajectory, ambition, and readiness for college-level rigor. We analyze your current course load, map the optimal progression for future terms, and identify key opportunities to elevate academic perception—whether that’s choosing between AP Chem vs. AP Bio, doubling down on humanities electives, or strategically staggering advanced coursework to avoid overload. The goal? A transcript that reads like a blueprint for success—not a box-checking exercise.
This is where most applicants blend in. We make sure you stand out. Extracurriculars aren’t a race to rack up hours—they’re an opportunity to develop and demonstrate who you are becoming. Through the lens of our Student Advancement Framework™, we assess your current involvement and map a sharper path forward. Which strengths are already visible? Which need to be developed? Where’s the white space others aren’t occupying? We align your interests, talents, and values with activities that amplify—not distract from—your core narrative. Whether that means deepening leadership, launching something new, or pivoting to something more strategic, we treat this as a blueprint, not a checklist.
Breaks aren’t pauses. They’re pivots. Selective colleges pay close attention to how students use their time when school isn’t in session. We help you turn each summer and winter break into a strategic step forward—aligned with your interests, but also calibrated to the expectations of top-tier admissions. Whether it’s academic enrichment, research, internships, travel, creative output, or launching a self-driven project, we design your break plans to build real capital—personal, intellectual, and narrative. The right experience, at the right moment, can do more than fill a line on a resume. It can become the hinge of your story.
Initiative is impressive. But intentional initiative? That’s admissions rocket fuel. We help students pursue and position experiences that showcase intellectual depth, curiosity, and a bias toward action. Whether it’s finding a research mentor, identifying internship opportunities, or crafting a completely original independent project, we bring a tactical lens to every idea—so it’s not just “interesting,” it’s strategically advantageous. More importantly, we guide students in how to frame and reflect on these experiences—so they don’t just do the thing, they understand what it revealed about them. That’s what admissions officers remember.
Before a student ever cracks open a prep book, the real work is in the planning. We help you map out a testing strategy that makes sense—not just for your target schools, but for your life. That includes choosing between the ACT and SAT, scheduling test dates around your academic and extracurricular commitments, and weighing how much time and energy to devote to test prep in the first place. Whether you’re aiming for elite scores or trying to minimize testing’s footprint in your application, we guide every decision with precision. Because standardized tests aren’t just a hurdle—they’re an opportunity to demonstrate readiness, discipline, and self-awareness.
A well-built school list is both ambitious and efficient. It’s a strategic asset. We don’t build lists from rankings or rumors—we start with your story. Your goals. Your trajectory. Then we analyze each school’s academic culture, admissions philosophy, and selection patterns to ensure the schools you’re targeting fit you, and that you’re positioned to compete. We balance reach, match, and likely schools with precision—not wishful thinking—so that every option on your list is both exciting and realistic. Because admissions success isn’t just about getting in—it’s about landing where you’ll thrive.
Some schools track it. Others don’t. But we always do. Demonstrated interest—your visible engagement with a college before applying—can subtly tip the scales. We help you navigate the mechanics of campus visits, info sessions, interviews, emails, and digital footprints in a way that’s authentic, tactful, and strategically timed. This isn’t about feigned enthusiasm. It’s about signaling alignment: showing that you understand a school’s culture, values, and academic ecosystem—and that you’ve imagined yourself thriving there. We’ll make sure the schools on your list know you’re not just a great applicant. You’re a great fit.
Application Support
It’s part personal narrative, part positioning document. The Common App essay isn’t just a space to share a story—it’s a chance to shape how admissions officers perceive you before they see your grades, test scores, or activities. We help students use this 650-word spotlight to reveal something deeper: character, curiosity, clarity of thought. Our process surfaces the right idea, refines the structure, and hones the language—until what’s on the page is not only authentic, but strategically aligned with everything else in the application. Because the best essays don’t just resonate. They persuade.
Every school speaks its own language. We make sure your story translates. Strong supplementals require a dual focus: understanding the ethos of each college—its tone, values, priorities—and making sure every response reinforces the core themes we’ve developed through the Student Advancement Framework™. We don’t start from scratch for every school, and we don’t copy-paste either. We build strategically consistent essays that adapt tone, detail, and focus to show alignment with each institution—without diluting your central message. It’s a high-wire act that demands nuance, diligence, and precision. And we’ve done it thousands of times.
It’s not what you did. It’s how you frame it. We help students craft activity descriptions that elevate impact, clarify leadership, and sharpen the perception of growth and purpose. Every word counts—and we know how to make each one work harder. Because the groundwork we lay through the Student Advancement Framework™ informs how we highlight your most valuable traits—so admissions officers see not just what you’ve done, but who you are becoming.
You don’t write them—but you do shape them. We guide students on how to cultivate the right recommenders, how to frame their requests, and how to equip their advocates with the context and talking points that matter most. A great rec doesn’t just say “hardworking”—it deepens and validates the themes we’ve been building from the start through the Student Advancement Framework™. We don’t leave this to chance. We help students ensure that their letters echo the same clarity, purpose, and dimension that the rest of the application delivers.
You’ve done the work. Now you have to own it out loud. College interviews aren’t about reciting your resume—they’re about presence, insight, and authenticity. We coach students to speak confidently about who they are, what they value, and why they belong at that school—rooted in the deeper work we’ve already done. From mock interviews to messaging alignment, we train students to listen, respond, and lead conversations that leave an impression.
Some applications ask for more—and when they do, we’re ready. Whether it’s a graded paper, a portfolio, an abstract, or a school-specific form with niche prompts, we treat these elements not as afterthoughts, but as additional chances to reinforce your candidacy. We ensure each unique component aligns seamlessly with your broader narrative, serves a purpose, and strengthens your positioning.
Money shouldn’t be the barrier between you and the right school. But the essays still have to deliver. We help students craft financial aid and scholarship responses that are honest, powerful, and strategically integrated with the core themes of their application. This is not the moment to cut corners or repeat yourself. It’s a moment to clarify need, reinforce value, and make a compelling case for investment. Our process ensures these essays are not only emotionally resonant—but also tactically sharp.
Breadth without chaos. Focus without limitation. We support up to ten college applications per student—strategically selected and sequenced to maximize outcomes. That includes a balanced mix of reach, match, and likely schools, all built around the narrative we’ve developed through the Student Advancement Framework™. We don’t scatter. We target. And we guide students through every component of each application to ensure quality stays high from the first submission to the final “send.”
Post-Application Support
Applying from outside the U.S.? There’s more to manage—and more room for error. We guide international students through every nuance of the application process, from country-specific transcript evaluations to cultural considerations in essays and interviews. We also advise on timelines, visa logistics, and how to engage with colleges as an international applicant. Our approach ensures that global applicants aren’t just compliant—they’re competitive.
A “maybe” isn’t the end of the road. It’s a call to action. We help students respond to waitlist and deferral decisions with poise and purpose. That means crafting targeted updates, knowing when—and how—to engage admissions offices, and aligning next steps with your overall application strategy. Every move here matters. We make sure it counts.
Getting in is the goal. But it’s not the end. We support students through the final, often overlooked stretch—comparing offers, evaluating financial packages, navigating waitlists, and ultimately deciding where to enroll. These decisions carry weight, and we help you approach them with clarity, confidence, and long-term vision. Because college isn’t just about where you can go. It’s about where you’ll grow.

FAQ

Questions about our College Pricing.

We offer comprehensive, multi-year engagements structured around the duration of the consulting relationship and the depth of strategic support applied across the admissions process.

All packages include support for up to ten school applications and follow the same core methodology: Student Advancement Framework™ diagnostic and competitive positioning, strategic planning, essay development through our outline-to-narrative process, and execution through submission. The tiers—Silver, Gold, and Platinum—are differentiated by engagement duration and the breadth of review mechanisms applied to the candidacy.

A Silver engagement spans two years and typically begins in junior year. A Gold engagement covers three years, beginning in sophomore year. A Platinum engagement extends to four years, beginning in ninth grade. Pricing reflects both duration and developmental depth: Silver is $33,000, Gold is $40,000, and Platinum is $47,000. Longer engagements are not simply the same consulting stretched over more time. Each phase has defined objectives, and earlier entry points allow for more substantive profile development before the application cycle begins.

A la carte services are available for clients who need targeted support rather than a comprehensive engagement. These include standalone strategic diagnostics, essay review, interview preparation, and recommendation strategy, each priced individually and combinable as appropriate.

Full pricing details are available on our college admissions pricing page. The consultation call is the appropriate forum to determine which structure best aligns with your goals, timeline, and the student’s current year in school.

They are distinct offerings designed for different circumstances.

A comprehensive package covers the full arc of the college admissions process: Student Advancement Framework™ diagnostic and competitive positioning, strategic planning, extracurricular and leadership development guidance, and complete essay development for up to ten schools. You work with a lead consultant who owns strategy and positioning throughout, supported by a dedicated essay specialist for sentence-level refinement. The Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers differ in engagement duration and the depth of additional review applied at each stage.

A la carte services are designed for clients with a specific, bounded need. These may include a standalone strategic diagnostic, essay review for a defined number of schools, interview preparation, or targeted feedback on application materials. Each service is priced individually and can be combined as appropriate, but they do not include the integrated, multi-phase oversight of a comprehensive engagement.

The distinction matters. College admissions at the highest level is a systems problem, not a series of independent tasks. A strong personal statement built on weak positioning remains a weak application. An impressive activities list without a coherent narrative connecting it to the essays reads as a collection of resume lines rather than evidence of genuine development. Comprehensive engagements ensure strategic alignment from initial diagnosis through submission. A la carte services are effective for targeted needs, but they are not a substitute for that alignment.

It depends on who you are comparing us to—and what you believe you are paying for.

Some firms charge significantly more. Whether they deliver more is a separate question. In many cases, premium pricing reflects brand recognition, geographic proximity to a small set of elite campuses, or the reassurance of an ultra-high price point rather than a materially different level of consulting. Many of the most expensive firms also quietly limit their client base to students who are already highly competitive, then market success rates built on that filtering.

Other firms charge less. Some deliver real value at a lower price; others make trade-offs in consultant experience, methodological rigor, or the amount of individualized attention each client receives. The college admissions space is crowded with independent consultants whose credentials vary widely and whose processes range from disciplined to improvised. The meaningful comparison is not price in isolation, but what that price purchases: the depth of the diagnostic process, the continuity of strategic oversight, the number of review cycles, and whether the engagement is genuinely tailored or largely templated.

Our pricing reflects a comprehensive, all-inclusive model. Once an engagement begins, there is no clock watching and no metering of attention. We commit fully to the candidacy for the duration of the relationship—diagnosis, development, strategy, execution, and refinement—without treating progress as a series of billable moments. The investment is designed to support sustained, deep work over time, not episodic advice. The consultation call is the appropriate forum to assess whether that level of commitment aligns with your goals and circumstances.

No. Our packages are designed to cover the full scope of work most clients require—up to ten school applications within the engagement—and we structure them that way intentionally. Your consultant’s focus should be on strengthening the candidacy, not on managing incremental charges.

There are limited exceptions. Rush work, when timelines compress beyond what the standard process allows, requires reallocating consultant capacity and is priced separately. Applications beyond the ten included in the package are available at an additional per-school fee. Neither is hidden, and both are disclosed in advance of any commitment.

In practice, we aim to get the structure right at the outset and avoid the need for upgrades altogether.

Our philosophy is to recommend the level of engagement that actually fits the student’s starting point, timeline, and competitive landscape—so the work can proceed with clarity and momentum rather than second-guessing. We do not design our packages around upsell mechanics, and we are not inclined to “start small and see.” When we recommend a structure, it reflects our best judgment about what the candidacy requires to be competitive.

That said, circumstances do change. If new information emerges or a family decides that a longer developmental runway would be meaningfully beneficial, upgrades are possible. Any adjustment reflects only the incremental scope of work, and transitions are handled deliberately to preserve strategic continuity with the assigned consultant.

The preference, however, is to make the right call early and then execute without distraction. The strongest outcomes come from engagements that are thoughtfully scoped from the beginning and allowed to run their full course without recalibration.

We offer an initial grace period at the start of every engagement. During that window, clients may adjust scope, change service levels, or cancel for any reason. This is intentional: the commitment should be made with clarity rather than momentum.

After the grace period, we do not offer refunds. By that point, consultant capacity has been formally allocated to the engagement. We operate as a boutique firm and do not overbook; when capacity is reserved, it is no longer available to other clients.

For multi-year engagements, this policy applies to each phase as it begins rather than to the full engagement at the outset. The policy is applied consistently and reviewed transparently prior to enrollment.

For comprehensive packages, the engagement spans the full duration defined at enrollment—two, three, or four years depending on the tier. The work is completed within that period, paced in coordination with the student’s academic calendar and application timeline.

We do not offer open-ended, indefinite engagements. In our experience, work without a defined structure loses focus, and unfocused work benefits no one. Within the agreed period, pacing is flexible and shaped by where the student is developmentally and which phases of the process are active. Early-stage work is typically less intensive, centered on diagnostic assessment, extracurricular strategy, and academic positioning. The application year requires the highest concentration of effort.

The structure is intentional. Time is not banked, tracked, or metered; it is deployed where it most effectively strengthens the candidacy.

Not always. We believe clarity is more useful than a reflexive sales pitch.

If a student’s profile is straightforward—strong academics, a coherent set of activities, a clear narrative, and a manageable school list—a comprehensive multi-year engagement may not be necessary. In those cases, a targeted a la carte session to pressure-test positioning or review essays may be sufficient, and we would rather see resources allocated where they add the most value.

Consulting earns its value when the margin for error is narrow and the strategic complexity is real. A student may be competing within an overrepresented applicant pool. The profile may contain strengths that are genuine but not immediately legible to an admissions committee. The school list may involve Early Decision tradeoffs with material consequences. In those situations, the Student Advancement Framework™ diagnostic, the structured development process, and the judgment of a consultant who has guided thousands of candidacies produce applications that are meaningfully stronger than most families can assemble on their own.

The consultation call exists to help you make this determination candidly. We will recommend the level of engagement the situation warrants—including, when appropriate, none at all.
