Background
Talon Rindels helps MBA applicants translate careers built in the real world — consumer goods, operations, global business — into narratives that land at selective programs. She spent fifteen years doing exactly that for brands at General Mills, ConAgra, Mars, and Target, across marketing, brand management, global M&A, sales, and ecommerce. Now she does it for people. Her clients have been admitted to M7 programs, top-twenty-five U.S. schools, and elite international programs including INSEAD, LBS, and HEC Paris, with a prestigious fellowship among them.
Talon was the first person in her family to earn an undergraduate degree and the only extended family member with a graduate degree. She went to UW-Madison, then Kellogg — where she had employer sponsorship waiting and gave it up to pursue work she actually believed in. That decision tells you most of what you need to know about how she operates: she does not hedge, and she does not do things halfway. After Kellogg, she interviewed and assessed candidates on behalf of the admissions committee, which means she has sat on both sides of the table and knows what the room is actually looking for.
Her consulting method draws on the same instinct that built her corporate career: storytelling with structure. She reads a candidate’s background the way she once read a product portfolio — looking for what’s distinctive, what’s underleveraged, and what the audience needs to hear first. She has been a Senior Consultant for nearly a decade, and she is one of a small number of consultants entrusted with onboarding — the first conversation a prospective client has with the firm. That role is not assigned to people who play it safe.
Talon is especially effective with first-generation applicants, international candidates, career-switchers, military-to-MBA transitions, older applicants, and anyone who has been quietly wondering whether their background is enough. It is. She will be the first person to see it clearly and the last person to let you lose sight of it. She works with deep emotional investment — not because she’s sentimental, but because she has watched what happens when a candidate who lacked confidence walks into the right program knowing exactly why they belong there.
If you need someone who will be beside you through the hardest parts of the process — not watching from the sideline but running the same miles — Talon is that consultant. She brings Kellogg-insider perspective, a decade of institutional knowledge, and the kind of conviction in her clients that you cannot fake and cannot teach.
